As I sit in my home, quietly looking out a large picture window, my focus goes to one leaf that glides by, gently drifting along lower and lower until landing on the ground. It doesn’t just fall, it is swept along by the breeze that carries it to a slightly different location than where it started. It is a singular leaf, floating through the air - beautiful, individual, unique - having fulfilled it’s purpose and now softly descending.
I’m reminded that our lives are like that - short, unique, seasonal. We start out and grow to maturity, in the meantime going through seasons and experiencing storms along the way. In the moment it seems our lives are fleeting away, but God sees the big picture. He knows what “tree” he put you on. He knew which color you were going to turn, and he knew how long you would be here before falling to the ground - your purpose fulfilled.
Be content to live fully for the time you’ve been given. Be willing to live cordially with others on your tree - or in the forrest - because at the end of your life, you’re part of a beautiful landscape that God painted. A landscape full of diverse, unique, and amazingly colorful leaves that create, in my opinion, the most stunning and gorgeous time of year!
You’re here for such a time . . . make your season count.
