Ps 40:5- your plans for us are too numerous to list.
We as women tend to overthink things. We’re wired that way. He has given us minds to be able to see needs, be fixers, multitask and accomplish much.
But are we - in all our planning - micro-managing God? He doesn’t need us to think about every possible way something will go wrong and try to overcome it. He doesn’t need us to consider every possible option that can work for something to be accomplished.
God doesn’t need us to be busybodies. Yes, he needs us to be workers, but not busy in doing activity just for the sake of doing something.
Can we consider that praying is doing something? Instead of trying to concoct a plan that seems right in our eyes, maybe just slow down and wait for God to make the next move. I think we miss God’s best because we’re too busy running ahead of him. Yes, he gives us ideas, but he doesn’t give us all the details. Does that bother you? You see, it’s in the details that I see God allowing us to see him work. But we’re robbing ourselves of a blessing when we’re trying to plan every single thing.
If we try to do everything on our own, we’re trying to take God’s glory. If we continue to work in our own strength, he won’t bless us - because we’re competing with him instead of working with him!
We’re wanting to have a perfect plan to insure we don’t fail, but unless we’re willing to risk it all on God, we’ll never experience his true power. We would be settling for less than God’s best. Let’s remember - His plans are better than our plans, his ways are better than our ways. In our human, controlling, prideful mindset, we’re so arrogant to believe we can do anything apart from God. Yet we constantly make plans so as to leave no room for God. We play it safe. We have a plan B and a plan C. Instead of the Holy Spirit moving, it’s us busily moving around in circles trying to make sure nothing falls through the cracks!
Isn’t it time we quit micromanaging?!
